Foam Bevel Cutter 14197

What is a foam bevel cutter?

An EVA foam bevel cutter is a specialized hand tool used to cut beveled edges—also known as chamfers—into lightweight crafting materials such as EVA foam or foam board. It allows for consistent, repeatable angled cuts without the need for complex machinery or risky freehand techniques. This is especially useful in cosplay, model making, and prop building, where precise angles are crucial for seamlessly joining armor panels, props, or terrain pieces. This tool features a guide rail and an adjustable angle system that keeps the blade straight while cutting.

This specific model is compatible with any standard 18 mm snap-off blade and has pre-programmed cutting angles of -15°, -30°, -45°, -60°, 90° and +15°, 30°, 45°, and 60°. Thanks to its symmetrical, ergonomic design, it is suitable for both left- and right-handed users. Whether you are assembling armor or building layered diorama bases, a foam bevel cutter simplifies the process and ensures clean, professional results.

How does a foam bevel cutter work?

Using it is very simple: insert a new 18 mm blade into the holder, set the desired angle, and lock the blade. The base of the cutter rests flat against the material, and the angled blade slices neatly through as you apply light forward pressure. Because the blade remains at a fixed angle, it creates a smooth, continuous bevel that is difficult to achieve with a standard craft knife. As always, we recommend using a cutting mat to protect your work surface.

This tool comes with ten 9 mm SK5 black carbon steel blades, known for their strength, edge retention, and clean cutting performance. These thinner blades allow for deep, precise cuts and give the user full control during intricate work. Unlike traditional utility knives, which can slip or snag in softer materials, this system ensures smooth movement and better accuracy, especially on long cuts or complex shapes. It is an essential tool for hobbyists looking to make their foam work faster and more consistent.

What materials can it handle?

The foam bevel cutter is designed for use on soft to semi-rigid materials commonly used in cosplay, crafting, and hobby projects. Ideal materials include EVA foam sheets (especially 2-10 mm thick), foam board, thin polystyrene (styrene), heavy-duty cardboard, thin plastic sheets, PVC foam, XPS, cork, balsa wood, and other modeling foams. These materials are frequently used in making costumes, wargaming terrain, and architectural models, making our tool a versatile addition to any maker's toolbox.

It is not recommended to cut hard plastic, dense resin castings, or metallic materials, as this may damage the blade and compromise safety. For its intended use, however, it offers reliable performance and clean cuts with minimal effort. When working with large panels or delicate parts that require miter joints, this cutting tool helps maintain structural integrity and appearance without ragged edges or uneven cuts.
