uPVC Plasticard - Thin profile
Thin plasticard profiles made of uPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride), also known as Plastikard. The general term plasticard refers to a type of plastic widely used in modeling, which is produced with various plastic compositions.
This uPVC plastic has very attractive physical properties for model making because, despite its strength and durability, it is very easy to work with. It is available in sheets of various thicknesses or in the form of profiles with a wide variety of shapes.
Plasticard is widely used in fantasy modeling, military modeling, slot car conversions, as well as in scale modeling and scratchbuilding.
Properties of the plastic:
- Very low thermal and electrical conductivity.
- Easy to cut and sand.
- Extremely thin plastic, easy to cut and level accurately.
- High resistance to degradation and wear, both indoors and outdoors.
- Easy to paint with hobby paints.
- Acetone-resistant plastic.
- Easy to glue with cyanoacrylate glue and SkullGlue Cement for plastics.
